N52 Arc Magnets

n52 arc magnets are curved sintered NdFeB parts made for projects that need very high magnetic output inside a compact arc-shaped space.
They are often evaluated for small motors, sensors, magnetic couplings, actuators, and high-flux assemblies where weight and volume are tight.
Before release, buyers should confirm grade, arc dimensions, coating, magnetization direction, and thermal margin.

A Practical Selection Note for High-Grade Curved Magnets

N52 is often requested because the number sounds impressive. In reality, grade selection starts with the magnetic circuit, not the grade label. A curved magnet with N52 material can help a designer shrink the rotor, reduce magnet thickness, or raise torque density. But if the assembly reaches 100°C or higher, a lower grade with higher coercivity may hold its strength better over time. The right question is not "Can we use N52?" but "Will N52 still meet the required flux after ten years at the actual working temperature?"

That is why we ask for the working temperature, peak temperature, humidity, salt exposure, and reverse field conditions before recommending a grade. Our NdFeB range covers N30 to N55, including M, H, SH, UH, EH, and AH. If N52 is thermally marginal, we may suggest N48M, N45H, N42SH, N40UH, N38EH, or N35AH. The goal is stable output, not a higher number on the drawing.

Arc Shape, Tolerance, and Magnetization

An arc magnet is defined by its curvature. The outer radius, inner radius, thickness, arc angle, and chord length must match the housing or rotor. A common mistake is to specify only the outer diameter and thickness. That is not enough for production. Magnetization direction also matters. Radial magnetization is typical for motor arcs, while axial or multi-pole patterns may be used in sensors and couplings. If the magnetization is not clearly stated, the factory may produce a part that fits mechanically but performs poorly in the circuit.

We machine arcs to tight limits, with dimensional tolerance controllable to 0.01mm. Production covers 0.2mm to 150mm, including thin segments and irregular profiles. Thin arcs can chip during slicing or coating, so our engineers review the drawing before quoting. If a small change in radius or thickness can improve yield without hurting performance, we will point it out.

Coating Choice and Real Service Conditions

Bare NdFeB rusts quickly in moist or salty air. For n52 arc magnets used in motors, generators, or outdoor equipment, coating is part of the design. We use a nickel-copper-nickel three-layer electroplating process. The single nickel layer can reach 5μm, with even color and good adhesion. Zinc, epoxy, gold, and silver coatings are also available. The plating line is fully automatic and meets environmental rules. Coatings can pass SGS 300+ item testing and comply with REACH, RoHS, CP65, and EN71. Buyers shipping to Europe, North America, Japan, or Korea often need these documents for customs and market access.

For high-temperature arcs, coating adhesion can be affected by thermal cycling. If the application sees repeated heating and cooling, we may recommend a different surface treatment or a samarium cobalt arc that operates up to 350°C. Alnico arcs can reach 600°C in some designs, though with lower energy product.

Quality Evidence, Not Just Claims

Every batch is inspected for composition, dimensions, magnetic flux, and salt spray performance. We use X-ray thickness gauges, high-temperature chambers, and HAST accelerated aging testers. Records are kept by lot number and can be reviewed during audits. The factory holds IATF16949 and ISO9001 certifications. Raw material is sourced from listed large-scale suppliers with purity ≥95%, and recycled material is not used. For heavy rare earth addition, we use dysprosium-iron rather than low-cost holmium-iron. This supports better thermal stability and batch consistency. Demagnetization rate is lower than the industry average, and magnetic fluctuation between batches is kept small.

What to Send for a Fast Quotation

To quote n52 arc magnets accurately, we need a drawing or a clear sketch with radii, thickness, arc angle, and tolerance. Also send the grade, coating, magnetization direction, working temperature, quantity, and any assembly method such as gluing, overmolding, or pressing. If you have a target flux or torque, include that as well. Free small samples are available. Small-batch trial production and fast prototyping are supported. Lead times are stable, and multiple payment methods are accepted. Technical support is free, including magnetic circuit review, material selection, and application analysis. After-sales response is timely.

Packing protects arcs from shock, scratches, and rust. We use 8-hole thickened inner boxes plus outer cartons for long-distance transport.
